I don't know what to say about my Governor these days. I guess we are a lot better off than what California has to put up with. But for Gods sake, I really think Blanco has lost her freaking mind!
First let me say that if you have a marriage that has gone bad, and you come to find out that your spouse is the George Bush or Ann Coulter of marriages, you want out ASAP! But Blanco has seen fit to extend the time for divorces to a year for married couples with children under 18. I'm sure divorce lawyers are happy about it, and will make the most of the extra 6 months, while you get billed for it.
Blanco agrees to extend wait for divorces
Married couples with children under 18 soon will have to wait a year before they can get a divorce -- rather than six months -- after Gov. Kathleen Blanco signed legislation doubling the wait time for couples with minor children.
The bill by Rep. Ernie Alexander, R-Lafayette, extends the current six month waiting period unless there are allegations of adultery, physical abuse or sexual abuse. Childless couples and couples with children 18 and older can get divorced after a 180-day waiting period.
And speaking of lawyers:
Supporters of Alexander's law, which will take effect Jan. 1, said the longer waiting period is designed to give couples more time to reconsider their action. But critics said the extra six months will only increase the time that couples bicker and boost the fees paid to divorce lawyers.
I am at a lost for words, on how to react to her as of late. She has me baffled and I really don't know what to think. First the Abortion bill, and now this. Has Blanco lost her mind?
