I have seen a good many diarys on how many seats are up for grabs. But one thing always amazes me when I see them. Louisiana is never on the list. We have seven seats in the U.S. House of Reps. and nearly every diary having to do with taking back the House, never mentions the seats of Louisiana.
SO don't mistake this as a jab to those that did diaries on this, because you might mean ones you think can be taken in your eyes. That is understood. But we have 7 seats and of those 7, only two are held by Democrats. With some effort, we can win these if we really try. Of the two Dems, one is a shamefull mess, and I believe the party needs to step in.
The fact is, there are 7 seats, and all 7 are up this November. Some have active Dems going after the GOP thugs, and some have no one yet listed that I know of.
The current list is as follows:
District 1:
Bobby Jindal (R)
District 2:
Bill Jefferson (D)
District 3:
Charlie Melancon (D)
District 4:
Jim McCrery (R)
District 5:
Rodney Alexander (R)
District 6:
Richard Baker (R)
District 7:
Charles Boustany Jr. (R)
You can find any active campaigns, and people who have their names listed as possible contenders HERE
Of all the seats, the one I have taken a close interest to, is the one with Jindal. Jindal in the poster boy and yes man for the GOP. The man he faces, is a progressive Democrat, and has fire in his veins. To defeat Jindal, is to defeat someone that brags about having dinner with Cheney. I will help his opposition, Stacey Tallitsch , with all that is in me.
While I am not part of Stacey's campaign, I have gotten to know him. He is no Jindal! I actually live in Charlie Melancon's district. When Stacey was an evacuee in Illinois, I had the luck to talk to him via phone and email. Folks, you would not believe how good and nice this man is.
I even offered him a place to stay with me, to come back down here and be where he could run his campaign. His response? He thanked me and did things like the man he is. I cannot even begin to tell you how nice a guy he is.
I had the chance to post on him and John Laesch, when they punked out Hastert in front of his office.
